Website and custom compliance & payroll SaaS for a U.S. trucking company. I handled the backend, integrations, deployment and ongoing maintenance; Colyn Domingo led the front-end, the SaaS workflows and the system architecture.

Overview

Colyn Domingo designed and developed the website's front-end experience, based on Colyn's own concepts and understanding of the logistics business.

Beyond the website, the project covered the operational workflows and custom SaaS requirements needed to centralize the company's processes. I handled the backend, the payment and TMS integrations, the production setup and ongoing maintenance.

The challenge

The company's processes needed to be centralized — compliance, payroll, employee management and carrier workflows — alongside a public website that presented its services clearly.

My role & responsibilities

Backend, integrations, deployment and maintenance.

Backend & application development

Built server-side logic in PHP for the public website and the compliance & payroll platform.
Developed the application endpoints behind billing, payroll, settings, integrations and account management.
Connected the website’s sign-up and checkout flow to account provisioning in the platform.

Databases

Maintained two MySQL databases — website sign-ups & billing, and the platform itself — linked in application code.
Delivered schema changes through versioned SQL and PHP migrations.
Documented both databases in a handoff guide generated from the live schema.

API integrations & external services

Integrated Stripe Checkout, subscriptions and webhooks: a payment activates the sign-up and provisions the customer’s account.
Built carrier billing on Stripe, including refunds and branded invoices instead of Stripe’s defaults.
Connected the Alvys TMS through a webhook that syncs loads, drivers and trucks into payroll.
Set up SMTP email for password resets and payroll emails, and built API-key management for platform API access.

Security & configuration

Kept Stripe keys, webhook secrets and database credentials in server-side configuration — never in front-end code.
Implemented TOTP two-factor authentication and hashed passwords.
Removed a hard-coded database password, closed an account-enumeration leak in password reset and a sign-in gap between staff and subscriber portals.

Hosting, deployment & scheduled jobs

Configured the production environment on Hostinger, including the database connections and environment-specific settings.
Prepared deployment packages for production releases.
Scheduled the monthly carrier-billing job (cron).

Testing, debugging & maintenance

Wrote role-regression and integration tests, including the Alvys driver/truck assignment sync.
Investigated and fixed production issues — load-sync mapping, payroll provisioning crashes, leave/PTO balance drift, company switching.
Shipped ongoing fixes and improvements to billing, payroll and settings.
